If you’re looking for your next destination after Krabi or Phuket, head a couple of hours north to Khao Lak! Here you’ll find cheap accommodations for whatever you’re looking for, whether it be the rainforest, in town, or on the beach. Because Khao Lak is lesser know than Phuket, and therefore in less demand, you can find amazing deals on hotels, resorts, Airbnbs, and guesthouses. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you get less of an experience, Khao Lack has everything from stunning beaches, national parks, waterfalls, snorkeling trip, and much more!

Check Out Guesthouses Around Khao Lak

Staying at guesthouses around Southeast Asian is a great way to save money and also experience some local hospitality. Typically with guesthouses, the owner or a family member of the property greets you with a warm welcome and generous hospitality. They usually prepare food themselves for a small price, cooked with ingredients from the local marketplaces.

The Guesthouses you’ll find in Khao Tao are much more affordable than the ones in Phuket and for what you get, much nicer. You’ll find places like Thai Life Guesthouse with 9/10 star ratings on Booking.com and other sites starting at 15 USD per night that include a full-service bar and restaurants, air conditioning, and a 10-minute walk to the beach. You’ll be remiss to find anything like that in hot tourist spots around Thailand.

What Airbnbs Have to Offer Around Khao Lak

If you’ve spent your time in hotels or resorts around Phuket or Koh Phi Phi, then maybe you’re ready for an experience away from the couples, kids, and partygoers. Airbnb offers an array of bungalows, houses, and huts away from all the chaos. Maybe you’re looking for a place to call your own for a few days, where you can make your own cup of coffee, sit out the porch, and enjoy some peace and silence.

For less than 20 USD you can find rustic beach huts nestled in the rainforest, where rare tropical trees meet the Andaman Sea. Most of these places are run by Superhosts, which means they have proven track records in providing great stays for guests.

And remember, when you’re staying at guesthouses and Airbnbs, make sure to contact your hosts before you arrive. Sometimes they offer free rides from the airport or bus station and helpful advice about the area.
